Speak Up!

REGARDING UNM'S unfinished biology lab. Seems they missed the Don't Count Your Chickens Before They Hatch 101 seminar. They shouldn't bother asking the legislators for more cash, either. The voters already told them no, and the Legislature works for us, not them. — F.A.B.
SO, UNM is wasting about $9 million or so of public funds for an extension to a building they do not have the funds to complete? What egotistical, selfish, self-serving leadership! They just assumed the public would support the bonds, even though the public is almost broke. — J.E.H.
A FRIEND who works at UNM told me that there are about 22 vice presidents at the university. Gee, it only takes one vice president to run the entire United States. — C.C.B.
PRAISE, PRAISE and more praise to Thomas Cole and Colleen Heild. Your subscription to the Journal is a donation to freedom. My subscription keeps fine reporters like Cole and Heild in business. A very cheap price to pay for protections from tyranny, socialism and corruption. — J.C.G.
I'D LIKE TO know who took Albuquerque's water, which used to be some of the best in the country, and turned it into a chlorine-laden stinking mess which is almost undrinkable. — W.E.B.
HOORAY, THE tradition continues, and as a daily commuter I smile every time I drive past the flood control people's tumbleweed snowman east of the Big I. Where did they get those big tumbleweeds after last summer's dry year? Keep it up, we all love that goofy looking smile on him (or her) as we drive by. — M.M.
IF GOV. BILL Richardson really wants to be a real humanitarian, why not go to Iran and rescue the innocent hikers from prison? I don't see that there is anything Richardson can do to make Korea shake hands and make nice. — E.S.S.
HOW DARE you high school parents ask the teachers to pass your students when they have averages below 40 percent! Your students ditch class, don't do homework and turn in blank exams! It's evident personal responsibility doesn't play much of a role in your lives, either. — D.R.B.
PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY in the city of Albuquerque, who carelessly throw the word "hero" about should remember the case of the gunman shooting at the Panama City, Fla., school board. A woman who attempted to disarm the gunman is the poster person for the word "hero." — C.J.
R.N. WISHES he could buy everyone a TV locked on Fox news. He should try changing channels once in a while and getting some facts for a change. — H.R.
GOV.-ELECT Susana Martinez shouldn't be too hasty about selling the jet. She might find herself with a really full calendar on which a very important event is in Las Cruces. A round trip would be quite a drive! — S.D.
WE WERE recently kicked off an Indian reservation because it is "sovereign land." If the Indian tribes are "sovereign nations," why don't they have their own currency, their own passports, their own visas and their own army? — D.S.
MANY AMERICANS are concerned about the mandatory requirement for all to have health insurance under Obamacare. This requirement is being challenged along constitutional lines in court. Is this insurance requirement any different from the requirement for each vehicle owner to have liability insurance? — J.A.T.
IF NEW MEXICO runs away from the agreements and contracts for the railroad track to the Colorado state line will the state be facing long and expensive litigation, which it could lose? And what fate will Amtrak face? Will Amtrak be faced with rerouting its service? Maybe re-negotiations between all parties could be a better solution to the problems. — H.B.
HAS ANYONE thought to do a real estate appraisal of California? Considering the financial septic tank our elected representatives have got us into, maybe now is the time to sell California to China. — T.K.
THANK YOU for the "County Problem Isn't With Public Relations" editorial. I am headed for my office right now to calculate that part of my property taxes that go to the county, so I can subtract that amount at payment time. I am sick of these rotten county administrators and I feel sorry for the honest workers among them. — D.H.
