Speak Up!
NOTE TO Bernalillo County commissioners: Do not lend even $4.50 of taxpayer money to any business no matter (how) "tremendous" (its) "potential" appears to be. If it were that solid, bankers would be climbing over one another to get the business. — F.A.B.
THE OP-ED column "Single-Payer Health Care Won't Fly" is an example of ignoring facts to push an agenda. Thirty-six countries rank higher than we do in health care at far less cost. Tell them that single-payer is impossible. We are the only country with millions uninsured and let 30,000 plus per year die due to no insurance. — L.L.
THE REPUBLICAN congressmen who are criticizing President Obama for his waiting for the United Nations to agree on action to be taken against Libya are the same ones who willingly approved President Bush's initiation of two ill-conceived wars, which continue to this day. — J.A.T.
THE LEFT has been saying for years we should not be involved in Iraq or Afghanistan's civil wars. Why are we now involved in Libya's civil war? — R.M.W.
WHETHER HIGHER altitudes and suicides are connected, I've always thought it was the altitude and not the attitude that makes it so difficult to live here. Looks like I might be right. — A.M.
CITY COUNCIL(ORS have) already made it almost impossible to have any of them recalled. Now they have succeeded in taking the matter of their pay raises out of the voters' hands. What is next for this group? They seem to be suffering from a severe case of "junta virus." — S.P.
A SOLUTION of what to do with that controversial bill to keep giving illegal aliens driver's licenses: First, let's expatriate all illegal (immigrants) and import Libyans and Egyptians. They would be excellent for standing up to Albuquerque's City Council and (its) edicts impeding their recalls and granting themselves pay raises. — K.A.T.
PERHAPS IF Michael Guzman is paroled, it should be into the personal care and custody of the former governor who commuted his sentence. Toney, oh Toney! — L.H.
I WAS A work-study student working at the information desk of the dormitory where Colene Bush and Julie Jackson lived at the time of the attack and remember both of them very well. I talked with them frequently. They were both very nice young girls. I hope the parole board denies Michael Guzman's request and keeps him in prison where he belongs for the rest of his life. — B.B.
THE HISPANIC population is now in the majority; does this mean (members) will no longer have the "minority" status? — R.C.
I SEE ARTICLES titled "More than 200 Rally for Workers' Rights," and the indication is the economic downturn is forcing people to reconsider their economic future. People can no longer ignore the effect of buying foreign products and illegal (immigrants) have on the U.S. economy. Workers' rights is a meaningless phrase unless there are jobs for the workers. — E.H.
DO YOU think if someone would put the series of Middle East crises in tournament brackets, President Obama would then pay attention? — E.A.J.
IMPRESSIONS FROM the latest news: Democrats are OK with licensing criminals and even letting them vote; Republicans are OK with paltry budget cuts that hurt people but don't solve debt problem. These are our choices? — C.T.
