Extravaganza Moves to Stadium
Journal Staff Report
Rio Rancho residents can wave their American flags and wear red, white and blue this weekend at the city's Fourth of July celebration.
Citywide events include a bike-decorating contest for children, Fourth of July parade and a fireworks extravaganza.
Peter Wells, city of Rio Rancho spokesman, said the city is expecting several hundreds of people at the fireworks show, which has been going on each of the past 20 years.
"It's one of the biggest and best firework displays in the state," he said about the half-hour show. "There will be some new things, but it won't disappoint."
The fireworks venue was moved from Loma Colorado Park to the Rio Rancho High School football stadium, which will have front-row seats to the action, food and entertainment, Wells said.
