Pair ID'd in Murder-Suicide

Journal Staff Report
Police have identified the woman and the ex-boyfriend who allegedly shot her, then turned the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide late Wednesday at the woman's home near Cibola High School.
Mackenzie Moran, 30, and Billy Smith, 31, were pronounced dead at the scene, 10727 Pueblo Place NW, around 11:30 p.m. — just over an hour after the shootings, APD spokeswoman Nadine Hamby said.
A male friend of Moran's, who insisted he was not romantically involved with her, called police and said that he had changed the locks on Moran's doors but that Smith had come into the home through the back door, Hamby said.
The friend left the home while Moran and Smith were arguing, then heard gunshots, she said.
A motive for the shootings was unclear, Hamby said.
