Man Stabbed at Gathering

Journal Staff Report
A man was arrested earlier this week at the Rainbow Family Gathering near Cuba after he stabbed another man.
Shamus Lee Woods, 34, of San Diego is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, tampering with evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia, State Police Lt. Eric Garcia said.
        According to State Police:
Woods and Altie Drashner were sitting in a truck bed at the gathering on Monday. Drashner then went to speak with two females near the campsite. Woods got involved, and a confrontation between him and Drashner ensued.
A witness told police Woods initially picked up a stick and tried to beat Drashner with it but it was taken away by someone in the group. Drashner attempted to walk away and was stabbed in the back by Woods. Drashner was taken to Cuba Medical Center and then airlifted to University of New Mexico Hospital with a stab wound to the back and a punctured lung.
Woods suffered a cut wound to the hand and was taken by ambulance to UNM Hospital, where he was later arrested by State Police. He was taken to the Tierra Amarilla Detention Facility.
Woods denied stabbing Drashner. He said he got into a scuffle with Drashner because Drashner was "belligerent and drunk."
