Sandia Speedway has received a title sponsor and is being renamed NAPA Speedway.
The parties will announce the new affiliation at a Thursday afternoon press conference.
“With NAPA’s racing heritage, it’s a natural marriage,” Jim Guthrie, president of the race facility, said in a statement.
NAPA Speedway includes dirt and paved ovals, a paved road course, a motorcycle flat track, a motocross course and a radio-controlled track. The facility is located on Albuquerque’s West Side atop Nine-Mile Hill.
Guthrie also is assuming full control of the facility, the statement said. The former Indy-car driver has leased the tracks and is forming a management team.
