Tuesday: With the game knotted at 5-5 in the top of the ninth inning, Josh Fields belted a two-out, pinch-hit home run to propel Albuquerque (2-4) to a thrilling 6-5 victory over the Iowa Cubs (3-3) in an afternoon game at Principal Park in Des Moines, Iowa.
Iowa reliever Jeff Beliveau got two quick outs before pinch-hitter Fields stepped in and crushed an offering into the teeth of a howling wind over the left-field fence for his first home run of the season, giving Albuquerque a 6-5 advantage. The pinch-hit blast was the first by an Isotopes hitter since May 16 of last year.

This and that: Isotopes OF Scott Van Slyke went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs. He is batting .450 with two doubles, three homers and six RBIs in five games this season. … It’s Retro Night tonight in Des Moines, where the Isotopes will don their retro Dukes jerseys and Iowa will wear old-styled Iowa Oaks uniforms.
