N.M. Scores Nine Points in Defeat
ALLEN, Texas — The Allen Wranglers defeated New Mexico 73-9 in an Indoor Football League game Saturday night, giving the Stars (2-6) their third consecutive loss — all on the road.
The score was 31-0 at halftime.
Allen quarterback Casey Printers passed for six touchdowns and Maurice Avery threw for one for the Wranglers (6-3), who beat the Stars for the second time this season.
Wranglers receiver Terrell Owens, a former NFL standout, had a season-best six catches, including one for a 32-yard touchdown. He had a total of 76 receiving yards.
The Stars’ first points came in the third period on an 18-yard field goal by Zeke Arevalo that made it 45-3. In the fourth quarter, Ryan Bugg scored on a 33-yard pass from Arkelon Hall for the team’s lone touchdown.
The loss dropped expansion New Mexico to 0-4 away from home this season.
The Stars return home for the first time in almost a month Saturday when they host the Everett Raptors (2-7) in a 7:05 p.m. game at the Santa Ana Star Center.
