♦ I AM PLEASED and excited that Boise State has decided to stay in the Mountain West Conference. However, they, a long with help from the MWC must pay five million dollars to the Big East Conference, for not joining. I would suggest they go to court. The Big East they agreed to join is no longer the same due to conference dropouts. How can they, and we, be forced to pay for something that is no longer available.
— SS ♦ I SEE THE DUDE’S got himself a new ghostwriter — spells most of the words right. Now if we can just find a few true facts from him … — DD ♦ AS THE YEAR came to a close, I was philosophizing about the back and forth between monsignor and his ilk, who take pleasure at predicting Lobo losses, and those like me that pull for the Lobos. At this time, monsignor is 2-13, while we are 13-2. We win! But then I realized that in the end, all seasons but one end in a way that monsignor can define as a failure. Arg! In his mind, monsignor wins! Then I realized how similar this is to life in which we eventually die. Who wins that? (Told you I was philosophizing.) We all will deal with afterlife in our own way. Similarly, we each decide on how we live our lives. Lobowise, I will pull for the home team to win. At the end of the season, I will have more laughs even if monsignor thinks he got the last one. Predicting losses and laughing at the last one is easy but irrelevant. The pleasure is in experiencing ups and downs with the Lobos; this is the choice I have made. In the end, I am happy and the “ilk” are pitiable. — The Philosophizer, AKA Mark ♦ THE WORD all along out of San Diego has been that SDSU is committed to the Big East. … So please stay true to your word. At last year’s MWC basketball tournament, some of the arrogant Aztec fans were shouting at Lobo fans “you’re from New Mexico.” Come March, maybe they’ll repeat their words … From their knees. — sw7 ♦ THE REF THAT hooked Coach Alford in St. Louis has a good eye. … I think it was his left one. Just a crappy night overall but what a great and exciting pre-conference schedule, national exposure and a solid RPI. Can’t wait for the MWC as it is going to be a great race and UNM will be right in the mix. KEEP IMPROVING, Happy New Year and Go Lobos!!! — ttrujillo ♦ I LOVE LOBO fans who badger other write-in participants. My suggestion to Leroy V, Ridic, D, Chuck A and the genuine lobo fan, I would have waited till after Saturday’s game before you went on your name calling rants. Lobo stats after being Billikenized, 160th in points per game, 164th in rebounds, 113th in assists per game and finally, 253rd in field goal percentage. Biggest fraud in the ratings, No, they won’t be rated. Possible four game losing streak, 1 and 3 will be pretty close. Lobo’s first game since p-jam that they didn’t have at least 2 MWC officials doing the game. That includes Cincy and Indiana State. Peace and safe year to all. — JB ♦ WORST. Coaching.
