♦ NICE WINS lady and men Lobos Wednesday night against very good Boise State teams. Even illness can’t keep a tough Aussie down, right Hugh? Men don’t let up now with the expected higher national ratings next week. To stud Demetrius Walker-get that confidence and swagger back and believe in yourself as you will be very important to the team’s success in the coming weeks and months. Gooooo Lobos!

— Long time fan

♦ “DYNAMIC DUO” strikes again. Haven’t been this excited about lobo bb since the Luc Longley days.

♦ COACH DITKA says Tebow is a winner plain and simple. Even if the Jets would have started Tebow all year they would have been in the playoffs.

♦ I, FOR ONE, love The Snake. Snake bashing has to stop now. Go Snake! Go Lobos!

♦ WELL LLF, if you truly are a long time Lobo fan, you’d recall that Mark (aka Snake) too has a long history with the Lobo men’s basketball program, starting when he was a ball boy for Norm Ellenberger at the age of 7. You’d also know he earned his moniker from the Lobo players, diving and squirming for loose balls. I do not know and have never met him, but from what I do know, Snake is an experienced, knowledgeable, respectful Lobo basketball fan. He is RESPECTED by opposing coaches and players, and OFFICIALS, for his knowledge of and passion for Lobo basketball. He is however not a TV director, they’re the ones who “make sure” he’s on TV. And yeah, people make mistakes and he’s made some too, for which he’s paid his due and moved on. But really, I’d say Snake has a looooong way to go in replacing coach Alford as “the face” of the program. I really don’t understand your problem with Mark unless it’s just jealousy.

♦ SNAKE: JUST WANTED you to know that for every “Snake-Hater” that is out there, you got someone who has your back. You should not think for one second that you have to explain why you are a True Lobo Fan. It is with great pleasure that when I see you on TV, I say to myself “Check out snake, representing UNM Basketball” I am on your side brother, and every other “True Lobo Fan” should be as well. The section where you sit, (Sec Y) is supposed to be a huge distraction and get into the visiting teams head, and you do that well. See you in Vegas Bro!

— Ese Vato from the West Side

♦ HEY JB. How about giving us lobo fans some more negative stats that show the Lobos at the bottom. But they keep winning and winning. Do you think “Desire” has anything to do with it? Your desire would like them at the bottom of the MTN. But they’re at the top again.

♦ FORT LEWIS COLLEGE is now a RMAC football dynasty with John L. Smith, a former SEC head coach, as head coach. The RMAC WNMU Mustang teams include many former high school players from the Bootheel, not exactly the best athletic talent in New Mexico. When we lived in Silver City, a WNMU soccer player and his girlfriend turned the rental across the street into party central. But the team of partying jocks won The Great Race two years in a row! Those kids cannot compete against someone who can recruit and coach!
