WATCHING THE DEBACLE in San Diego, I can’t blame the lopsided loss on poor shooting. It was quite obvious that the Lobos were physically manhandled. Watching them stagger down the floor in the second half reminded me of marathon runners staggering across the finish line. They may have shot poorly but only because they were battered and bruised. Think we need a little more work in the weight room?

A HUGH-GE loss for the Lobos. I CAM hardly believe it. I could SNELL defeat just minutes into the game. The Lobos can’t ALFORD to lose any more games like this. But don’t worry, AlbuKIRKque is still rooting for you guys. You KENDALL-ways win JAMAL.

— A Very Punny Lobo Fan

15 POINTS in the second half from the #15th ranked team, good thing they weren’t ranked #8.

ALL YOU ARM CHAIR coaches that think you know it all, and all you fans that don’t like to lose, and those that think Alford needs to go because we lost…..relax and count to 10, we’re gonna be fine.

OH WELL … disconbobulated … who’s next …

THANK GOD for the cincy (31) and vermonts(32) womens teams or the lobos would have scored the fewest points in basketball game on saturday. I was told that it is the fewest points scored in a forty minute mens game this year. Congratulations to the former number 15 team.

HELLO BOYS!!!!! WE’RE BACK!!!

— The Monsignor, The Realist and JB.

I NOW LIVE in Tennessee, but someone from Albuquerque always lets me know if important things happen. I was notified last week that Albuquerque was considering naming their new football stadium after Coach Bill Gentry. I was an assistant coach for eight years under Coach Gentry at Highland High School from 1966 to 1973. I cannot think of any other person that deserves this honor as much as him. Everyone knows of all the awards he has been given and the games and State Championships that his teams have won. BUT, His consideration and devotion to his players, coaches, family, and attention to details are unequaled. I encourage the group in charge to made the right decision and name the stadium: THE BILL GENTRY STADIUM and those attending football games will always be reminded of who he is. THANK YOU

I HAVE BEEN a season ticket holder and a loyal fan of the lady lobos basketball for 13 years. But for the first time I see a team without a floor leader who appears as disorganized, uninspired and lost on the court as any team I have seen before. They pass poorly, give up to many turnovers, shoot poorly and have a terrible free throw shooting percentage. The sad thing about it is that we have some very good players who should be doing much better. It leaves me to believe that the problem is with Yvonne Sanchez who seems to be in over her head as a college level coach. It seems to me that she has not been able to teach the basic things in order to become a better team, such as passing the ball, avoiding turnovers, free throw shooting, bringing the ball up the court, and breaking the press. I believe the ladies could play better if they had a coach who was able to teach the things needed to be a good team.

TO ALL COACHES whose team is facing realignment in 2014, please stop your whining. Brian Urlacher and Landry Jones came from smaller programs. If you have an athletic program that is producing winners the athletes will come regardless of classification. Also can we stick to the enrollment numbers to assign class amd not allow public schools to play up? Private schools are a different issue but for public schools it is what it is.

WAKE UP NMAA. Let me begin by saying it would be a HUGE MISTAKE to move Valley out of 5A and down to 4A. Valley is a community supported school unlike any other in the city. Our fan base follows Valley to every game in every sport. This equals revenue. Our teams are competitive in all sports. Granted we are one of the smaller schools due to no new growth in the Valley, but our support is unequaled. If we are moved to 4A we will lose quality athletes and there is a good chance that fan interest and support could go away. Just because something looks good on paper doesn’t always mean it is the right thing to do. There is a reason our gym is packed and electric when there is a big game. Don’t take away 50 plus years of tradition and support and love for”The Pride of the North Valley”. There is NO other school like Valley. I am a 1969 graduate of VHS and still support the school in many ways as do countless other people of the North Valley. Remember my words….HUGE MISTAKE!
