According to the websites footballscoop.com and coachingsearch.com, former Nevada assistant Scott Baumgartner  is the New Mexico Lobos’ new wide receivers coach.

Baumgartner’s hiring has not been announced by UNM, but then, UNM has yet to say former WR coach Taylor Stubblefield has left — nor has Wake Forest, Stubblefield’s new employer, announced that he has been hired there. Stubblefield, however, has adjusted his Facebook page to reflect the change. Wake Forest’s rivals.com site also reported that Stubblefield accompanied Demon Deacons head coach Jim Grobe on a recent recruiting trip.

Baumgartner worked at Nevada the past nine years under coach Chris Ault, but was not retained by new Wolf Pack head coach Brian Polian after Ault retired.

His familiarity with the pistol offense, developed by Ault at Nevada and now an essential part of UNM’s offense under head coach Bob Davie and offensive coordinator Bob DeBesse, should be a major plus for the Lobos.
