♦ CHAD ADAMS, JAMAL FENTON, thank you seniors for fighting tooth & nail for the Lobo nation & for always giving it your all in your tremendous accomplishments. You both are the winningest lobos of all time. We sincerely appreciate you & you will truly be missed!

♦ DALE COMMENTS that SDSU is 1-4 when playing above 5,000 feet at Nevada, Wyoming, Air Force, CSU and UNM. I wonder what the record of those five teams is when playing SDSU at sea level.

♦ WHO WRITES THE headlines for the Journal??? ?Front page says Lobos crush San Diego State … 10 points, 70-60, hardly call that crushing. Another above Wright’s column said Snell outplayed Franklin yet provides little support for the argument except that Alford says Tony plays good d. Points don’t mean everything but Franklin ourtscored Snell 16-10 and had large rebounding edge 9-3. Franklin’s problem was he took so many shots and shot a poor percentage, and many were makeable. However must mention I always considered Franklin overrated and needs another year in college … Not NBA ready.

♦ AN ABSOLUTE SMASHING performance by the UNM student section during the San Diego State game. It would be fantastic if this could become a PIT TRADITION, with also participation from the spirit squad, chaparrals & the whole PIT crowd, it would definitely put every other arena in the country to shame.

♦ THE WAY UNM men’s basketball team has played — sick, injured, behind or tied or ahead — has put them solidly in #14 in both polls and in ESPN’s BPI. Look at the Lobos’ RPI (3) and strength of schedule (4) rankings; they alone stand with Duke and Miami (FL). These young men play in a manner described by a statement attributed to Joe DiMaggio: “There may be someone there who’s never seen me play before.”
