As was predictable — though Nick Diaz was no better than even money to show up — Diaz was the the star of Thursday’s UFC 158 news conference in Montreal. The mondo bizarro MMA fighter from Stockton, Calif., will challenge champion Georges St-Pierre for the UFC welterweight title Saturday at the Bell Centre.
Clearly, Diaz has managed to irritate St-Pierre. Whether that will help him or hurt him in the cage Saturday night is another question.
Meanwhile, Albuquerque’s Carlos Condit was asked not a single question about his fight Saturday against Johny Hendricks — who got one question. Condit didn’t seem to mind, and in fact seemed to enjoy the show.
