  • I MUST TAKE exception to Mr. Schulz’s statement that the Lobos are made up of “players with little or no basketball skills….” With that declaration Wally loses all credibility. The remainder of his thesis therefor can only be thought of as the nonsensical ravings of a lunatic mind – and should be dismissed as such. - UNM Alumnus
  • SO, DOES ANYONE with the Journal sports dept. have the courage to go ask Coach Alford the obvious elephant in the room question like, why didn’t he make any adjustment to better guard Harvard’s 4 guard offense. The Journal seems to be content with Coach Alford blaming the players inability to make shots as the reason this game was lost. In my opinion, Coach Alford got outcoached. - Dave, Rio Rancho
  • AFTER WATCHING countless higher seeded teams get beat this week it’s obvious that they go into their 1st round game with a very lackadaisical attitude. The other team just wants it more or just knows they have to work harder to get it. … UNM has “turned it on” in the last 5 minutes or so of games they’ve been behind in and won. They were too far behind with Harvard. Alford made stupid coaching mistakes, yes, but the boys didn’t show any oomph. I disagree with everyone who blames it on the hype. I think the boys need that going in for confidence’s sake but they need to keep it in perspective. They didn’t keep it in perspective. They let it get to their heads and didn’t come out with everything they had. - Toni, Santa Fe
  • CAN WE WRITE a clause in Alford’s contract that if he loses to an unranked team more than ten seeds lower in the NCAA tournament, that he has to give back his contracted money,? maybe then he and the team would have had a little fire? terrible loss!!!! - Will in Santa Fe
  • HAVE YOU EVER wondered if the NCAA ref’s call the game just a little toward the team that represents the larger TV audience? Maybe it’s just me. - R.D.H. Albuquerque
  • C’MON, LOBO FANS. The players and coaches put lots more into the season than you did and they feel lots worse than you do. - Chuck Wellborn
  • THIS LIFE-LONG LOBO has finally come to realize that we’re never going to be more than a big fish in a teeny tiny bowl. Choking in the tournament has become such a way of life that no matter how much we pay the coach nothing’s ever going to change. Meanwhile, the Gonzagas, George Masons, and Butlers with zero fan base and tiny little gyms flourish in the Madness year after year. I don’t get it. Nobody deserves tournament success more than the Lobos and their fans, but I’ve finally realized it’s never gonna be. We’re cursed worse the Cubs and the only goat we have to blame is the coach. Ugh! Oh well, Congrats to the Mountain West Champs (or whatever it’s called in the future) for the next 6 out of the 10 years. - Perennial Lobo Whiner
  • CHEER UP LOBOS fans! At least UNM won’t be the biggest choke with higher seeded Georgetown losing their 2nd round game. Now, it’s time for Isotopes baseball! Go Topes! - Robert
  • I WANT TO THANK the Lobo men’s basketball team for a very exciting season. Look forward to next year! - DF, Albuquerque
  • LOBO NATION needs to grow up. The basketball team had a great season, but ended with a bad game. It’s time to SUPPORT the team when they win or lose. They don’t deserve what they are getting from their very own fan base. From an Aggie to a Lobo team, congratulations on a great season. - Aggie Alum
  • TO PREPARE THE Lobos to be successful in next year’s NCAA Tournament, I have a suggestion. Coach Alford should stack his pre-conference schedule with more of those powerhouse Ivy League teams. - Kerstan, NE Heights
