George Dohrmann of SI.com writes in a story published Monday, March 25, on how Ben Howland’s mishandling and mistreatment of recruits in Southern California, Kendall Williams in particular, has led to his dismissal as UCLA men’s basketball coach.

The story reports how Howland rescinded an offer to Williams at virtually the last minute, too late for some other Pac-12 schools to evaluate him. Williams then accepted an offer from New Mexico and the 6-foot-4 junior guard was named the Mountain West Conference’s player of the year for this past season.

Dohrmann also is the reporter who wrote in March2012 about how several hard-partying, selfish UCLA players, including Drew Gordon, had dropped the mighty UCLA program from the ranks of college basketball’s elite. Gordon later transferred to UNM and became an all-Mountain West center for the 2011-12 Lobos.
