One of the best seasons in University of New Mexico basketball history ended with an embarrassing loss in the game that mattered most.

That was the message a very defensive and agitated Steve Alford hammered home time and again Wednesday when he met with local media to put a bow on his team’s 29-6 season that ended with his No. 3 seeded team getting upset last week in Salt Lake City in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to No. 14 Harvard.
