For three seasons, 2008 through 2010, Jonathan Mader and Anthony Hooks were University of New Mexico football teammates.

Briefly, last week, they were reunited — in D Unit, Pod 5 at the Metropolitan Detention Center.

On March 11, Mader was arrested in Northeast Albuquerque for aggravated DWI, fleeing a police officer, driving on a revoked license and reckless driving.

According to Metropolitan Court records, Mader pleaded innocent to three of the four charges. No plea was entered on the fleeing an officer charge.

Mader was jailed 15 days later for a violation of his probation stemming from a February 2012 DWI conviction. The probation was revoked.

Bail was set at $5,000 but then rescinded. As of Thursday, the former UNM tight end remained in custody.

Hooks was released March 29 on $7,000 bond after spending a week in the MDC. The former Lobo cornerback was arrested early on the morning of March 23 on charges of battery against a household member and child abandonment.

On March 5, Hooks had pleaded guilty to an April 2012 domestic violence charge in exchange for a deferred sentence. He pleaded innocent to the latest charges, but the probation lifted earlier this month was reinstated.

In November, Hooks was arrested on charges of battery against a household member and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle. The case was not prosecuted.

Hooks, who is from Phoenix, came to UNM in 2008. He started at cornerback for three years (2009-11) and left the program having started 37 games.

Mader was a district and metro player of the year as a Cibola quarterback in 2007. Moved to tight end at UNM, he played sparingly before being dismissed from the team late in the 2010 season for what then-coach Mike Locksley described as repeated violations of team policy.

In late December 2010, Mader was arrested on charges of illegal possession of alcohol, disorderly conduct and refusing to obey a police officer, and according to Metropolitan Court records spent 14 days in jail. He was found guilty of disorderly conduct; the other charges were dismissed.

In April 2012, Mader was arrested on charges of trafficking in a controlled substance and conspiracy. The case was not prosecuted.
