The letters on the the Rail Runner June 28 have good ideas. But how about New Mexico’s future? Even today long distance shipping is far cheaper by rail. Semis shorten the life of highways. As gas gets more expensive and less available we will need to return to rail systems. Gov. Martinez is focused on the present but is pound foolish for the future.
Has The Desire To Be Informed Been Replaced the Desire To Be Entertained?
Is it possible that there are far too many people in this country today who do not want to know what is really going on so they just listen to brief surface renditions of the news, or biased newscasts that are aligned with what they want to be going on, and then return to seeking ways to be entertained instead of watching newscasts on PBS or elsewhere which attempt to present both sides on the issues of the day and go into more depth?
I am outraged that I had to wait until the day of the race to learn anything important about the 100th anniversary of the Indy 500. With the exception of a ho-hum story about a diabetic driver being allowed to compete, there was nothing except an overblown feature about the Unsers, of whom we already know more than we need to. I guess you guys don’t consider the 500 important if an Unser isn’t driving in it. Well, some of us have been Indy 500 fans since before the Unsers were born, and we’d like to see some information about it–in ADVANCE.
