Just Say No to Bad Sports
On a trip to New York this fall I caught a football game between the Somers Tuskers and the Norwalk (Conn.) Dolphins. The players were fifth-graders suited up in full pads and helmets, the game was tackle and there were a lot of hits. The Dolphins defeated Somers 39-12.   (Thursday, November 19, 2009)

El Nino Outlook: Wet Winter for N.M.
Joe Galewsky pointed at a computer image of last weekend's storm. It rolled in from the northwest, dumping snow in Colorado and clipping the northern half of New Mexico before charging out onto the Great Plains.   (Tuesday, November 17, 2009)

Program Creates Eager Students
Editor's note: This personal column is the latest in a series of Journal reports on New Mexico's long-standing achievement gap between Hispanic and Anglo students. We are looking at the problem from different angles and featuring people, schools and programs that appear to work, along with those that don't.   (Monday, November 16, 2009)

DWI Still a Hot Potato in Gallup
GALLUP — In Thursday's column I told you about Gallup and McKinley County's failure to get on board the state's DWI reform train — arrests down from the 1990s, fatalities up and plea deals and repeat offenses sky high.   (Sunday, November 15, 2009)

Ban Sought on Lobbyist Donations
Under New Mexico law, a lobbyist can't give a state legislator a gift valued at more than $250 but can shower a lawmaker with thousands of dollars in campaign contributions.   (Saturday, November 14, 2009)

Developmental Disability Doesn't Hold Rio Rancho Student Back
The blow-up tunnel on the south end of Milne Stadium rumbles with the raw-meat energy of the Rio Rancho High Rams varsity football team, the players raring to take the field, take no prisoners, take it all.   (Friday, November 13, 2009)

Gallup Backslides on Drunk Driving
Five years ago, mixing booze and the open road with deadly results was a problem shared by all of New Mexico.   (Thursday, November 12, 2009)

PRC Racks Up $45K Travel Tab
