Kitty has real taste for cloth
Q: I have a feral cat that frequently eats any and all types of cloth. Have been told by two vets that nothing can be done except to keep these articles out of her reach. All sorts of medical testing has been negative thus far. I am very concerned that she might get an obstruction.   (Friday, April 08, 2011)

Disease a moving target
Q: Our vet recommends Luke have a leptospirosis vaccine. In what specific areas are the large outbreaks of lepto occurring? Does a dog have natural immunities to lepto? Does the vaccine protect against the most lethal versions? Our dog is never off leash, so won't come into direct contact with wildlife.   (Friday, April 01, 2011)

Heart to share
Mose almost missed fulfilling his destiny.   (Friday, March 25, 2011)

Sparky's sleeping shabbily
Q: I have a 5-year-old, 5-pound male Yorkie-poo named Sparky. Yesterday, he cuddled up next to my brother and went to sleep. Suddenly Sparky awoke, shrieking as if he were in tremendous pain or frightened out of his wits. I held him and he calmed down after about a minute. I couldn't find any injury and wonder if it could have been a nightmare.   (Friday, March 25, 2011)

Put end to war of the cats
Q: I have two 9-year-old Siamese male litter mates. Over a span of four years there have been infrequent fights. They are mostly loving, caring pets. For the past three days they are playing the aggressor/victim roles, having had two very loud and serious fights. They are indoor cats with little stress, except that we are living in a newer home for the past several months.   (Friday, March 18, 2011)

We're all ears
Chris Dowd and her husband, living outside city limits and across from a feed store, were accustomed to strays. Dozens had found sanctuary with the Dowds over 25 years, all sizes and shapes.   (Friday, March 18, 2011)

Match game
One day in Greenwich Village, at 11th and Bleecker streets, Michele Kemp saw a woman in a store window pick up a macaw and blow on its belly.   (Friday, February 25, 2011)
