Warming Trend Expected Through Midweek

Associated Press
New Mexico will be warming up through midweek, and the National Weather Service is warning about wind and increasing fire danger.
Although the forecast for today called for highs as much as 12 degrees below normal in parts of southwestern New Mexico, temperatures are expected to be 5 to 15 degrees above normal statewide by Wednesday.
In the middle of the week, a large upper level trough will deepen over the western United States while the jet stream drives across New Mexico.
West and southwest winds will become breezy to windy Wednesday, then shift to the west and northwest and become very windy with the passage of a cold front Thursday. Very low humidity will accompany the strong winds, with critical fire weather conditions expected in many areas both Wednesday and Thursday.
Wind and fire weather concerns are expected to persist along and east of the central mountain chain on Friday.
Thin high clouds moved into western New Mexico overnight. The rest of the state remained clear.
Overnight temperatures ranged from the upper teens to the 20s in the mountains and from the 20s to mid-40s at the lower elevations. Sunday's highs varied from the 40s to the low 70s.
