Storm Hammers Eastern, Northern N.M.

Associated Press
Schools were disrupted and roads were slick with packed snow and ice today in northern and eastern New Mexico, where a storm dumped at least 10 inches of snow.
Public schools were closed for the day in Cimarron, Edgewood, Estancia, Fort Sumner, Las Vegas, Los Alamos, Mora, Moriarty, Pecos, Pojoaque, Santa Fe, Wagon Mound and West Las Vegas.
Crews were plowing, salting and sanding Interstate 25 between La Bajada, south of Santa Fe, and the New Mexico-Colorado line, said S.U. Mahesh, state Department of Transportation spokesman.
Crews were doing the same work on I-40 between Albuquerque and the New Mexico-Texas line.
The National Weather Service posted a winter storm warning through the day for parts of central and eastern New Mexico.
Española received at least 10 inches of snow, while Edgewood and White Rock picked up at least 8 inches as of early today, the weather bureau said.
Low temperatures before dawn today ranged from 10 degrees at Gallup to 37 degrees at Carlsbad. High temperatures Wednesday varied from 28 degrees at Capulin to 70 degrees at Animas.
A few snow showers could linger tonight over the east.
The state will have drier, warmer weather Friday and Saturday.
Another storm could affect New Mexico Sunday through Monday, and a third one could hit the state Wednesday and Thursday.
