After Windy Days, Calmer Weather Ahead

Associated Press
A dry cold front was sweeping across New Mexico today, churning up strong wind and causing dangerous fire conditions, the National Weather Service said.
The weather bureau issued a red flag warning through this evening for much of the state.
A red flag warning is usually posted if wind is stronger than 15 mph, humidity is less than 25 percent and temperatures top 75 degrees.
The cold front, racing southeast from the Four Corners, will move into Texas and northern Mexico Thursday night.
New Mexico should have cooler, calmer weather Friday.
Skies will remain clear over the state through Sunday. Temperatures will gradually rise this weekend.
A Pacific Northwest storm system will slide south and sit off the Southern California coast by Sunday.
The storm will help draw Gulf of Mexico moisture northward over southern and eastern New Mexico early next week.
Low temperatures before dawn today ranged from the 40s over far northern New Mexico to the 70s across the southern lowlands.
High temperatures Wednesday ranged from 64 degrees at Angel Fire to 93 degrees at Carlsbad.
