Unsettled Weather Forecast for N.M.
Associated Press
A powerful southeastbound cold front will trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms Tuesday over northwestern New Mexico, the National Weather Service said.
A cold front also will plunge southwest over the eastern plains late Tuesday, causing showers and thunderstorms along the eastern slopes of the Sandia, Manzano and Sangre de Cristo mountains.
An upper-level low pressure area will deepen over southwestern New Mexico, producing widespread showers and a a few thunderstorms Wednesday.
Another storm system will try to slide in behind the first system, causing unsettled weather and below-normal temperatures through Friday.
Dry, windy, warm weather prompted red flag warnings statewide today.
A red flag warning is usually posted if wind is stronger than 15 mph, humidity is less than 25 percent and temperatures top 75 degrees.
New Mexico had mostly sunny skies with moderate to light breezes Sunday, when high temperatures ranged from 64 degrees at Angel Fire to 90 degrees at Animas.
