UNM Top Salaries Frozen

Schmidly takes action to curb administrative spending. Amid criticism from lawmakers and a possible no-confidence vote by faculty, University of New Mexico President David Schmidly announced Monday a freeze in executive salaries - including his own - and cuts in administrative spending.

APD Settles Suit for $685,000

Police failed to respond to calls before man killed girlfriend, self. The Albuquerque Police Department's failure to respond to repeated calls that a pregnant woman was in danger at the hands of her boyfriend - an incident that ended with him killing her and himself - already led APD to make significant changes. Now it will cost the department $685,000, as well.

APS Keeps Cheese Sandwiches

Officials: Policy Is Bringing Payments. Cheese sandwiches are still on the menu. Albuquerque Public Schools will continue to serve the sandwiches to students with unpaid lunch debts, barring an agreement with community groups to pay down most of the bill.
