New Mexico's state quarter, one of the last in the nation's series of commemorative coins, is being released to the public today.

N.M. 47th State Honored with Quarter

  SANTA FE -- Multicultural New Mexico on Monday became the 47th state to be honored with a quarter and the first to use a symbol created by Native Americans, U.S. Mint Director Ed Moy said at a celebration of the coin's release. The quarter features an outline of the state overlaid by Zia Pueblo's sun symbol. Toward the bottom is New Mexico's slogan, "Land of Enchantment."
