UNM Football Gets Charge Dropped by NCAA Investigators

  The NCAA has dismissed one of four charges facing New Mexico's football program in an academic fraud investigation, although the assistant named in the dropped count no longer coaches at the school. Defensive coordinator Osia Lewis left in February to accept the same position at UTEP.   New Mexico is shutting down an intensive family counseling program that has been hailed nationally for reducing juvenile crime and detention.

  Tuesday is tax day, thus the Postal Service is readying itself for "tax night" operations. Albuquerque and Rio Rancho residents will have until midnight to use some retail operations to mail their tax returns.

IRS Has Grant for Taxpayer Help

  The Internal Revenue Service has announced it will accept applications for a part-year Low Income Taxpayer Clinic matching grant in New Mexico. The supplemental application period for this grant will run through April 24. The grant will cover the balance of the 2008 grant cycle, and successful applicants may be eligible for a regular full-year grant for the 2009 grant cycle.
