    About 75 People Wait for Rescue in Ruidoso Flood

      RUIDOSO — More than 75 people stranded by massive flooding in the Ruidoso area were awaiting rescue today, as local officials began assessing the damage caused by torrential rains that sent the Rio Ruidoso over its banks.       The doorbell was ringing frantically. A man was looking through the windows. The stranger wanted inside, and 13-year-old Seresa Lobardeux was home alone. She grabbed a knife, ran to her mother's bedroom and locked herself in a bathroom.

    Leaks in the Water Authority

      Priority No. 1 for the city-county Water Utility Authority: conserve water. Perhaps it just forgot to tell water board member Tim Cummins. Cummins used 942,480 gallons of water at his Tanoan home in 2007, nearly nine times the average use for a residential home in Albuquerque, according to water authority numbers.
