    One Killed, One Hurt in Fiery Accident

    Steve Lachendro owned two balloons and co-owned another. The Air Force reservist flew for fun at ballooning events around the country, co-owned a RE/MAX balloon franchise and flew a remote-controlled balloon. Lachendro, of Butler, Penn., was killed in a fiery balloon crash Friday when "Wings of Wind," a balloon shaped like an inverted pyramid, crashed into power lines in Bernalillo.

    No. 9 BYU Defeats Lobos, Wins 16th Straight
    Associated Press
    PROVO, Utah -- Max Hall threw for three touchdowns and No. 9 BYU survived its lowest scoring game of the season with a 21-3 win over New Mexico today, extending the nation's longest winning streak to 16 straight. BYU (6-0, 2-0 Mountain West) remained unbeaten at the halfway point of the season, but needed Hall's 8-yard touchdown pass to Austin Collie with 3:05 left in the game to seal it.
