  An 18-year-old man charged Friday in the slaying of a Roman Catholic nun told investigators that he repeatedly struck the 64-year-old woman in the head with a flashlight after she caught him burglarizing the convent where she lived, according to a federal affidavit.

Jail Fails To Divulge Beating

  The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department didn't find out about an Oct. 12 jail fight in which an inmate suffered a broken jaw and crushed bones near his eye and sinus areas until the alleged victim's attorney contacted the department on Tuesday, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
