Richardson Won't Relinquish Governorship Until Confirmed By Bruce Daniels/ Journal Morning News Editor Gov. Bill Richardson was named secretary of commerce by President-elect Barack Obama this morning in Chicago. Richardson, a former U.N. ambassador and U.S. energy secretary under President Clinton, said he would remain as governor until confirmed by the U.S. Senate, which will not occur until after Obama is inaugurated on Jan. 20, 2009.

David Lee Saavedra, 39, of Albuquerque, is in federal custody, arrested in connection with the Tuesday morning holdup of the Bank of the West at 500 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.Saavedra was arrested Tuesday by the Albuquerque Police Department's Repeat Offender Project, FBI Special Agent Darrin Jones said in a news release.
