Rio Rancho mayor launches Trader Joe’s campaign

Rio Rancho Mayor Gregg Hull launched a social media campaign this month, asking residents to reach out to Trader Joe’s and request a new location to open in the area.

In his online post on May 2, Hull’s minute-long Facebook video asked residents to “take the Mayor’s Challenge” and fill out a request form on Trader Joe’s website.

“Since I took office, I’ve been hearing how much Rio Residents want a Trader Joe’s — from emails to phone call to every public meeting I attend, I receive the same message: Rio Rancho wants a Trader Joe’s and so do I,” Hull said.

As of Friday, Hull’s video post has received 35,000 views, 1,038 shares, 314 comments, 377 ‘likes’ and ‘loves’ and has reached more than 90,000 people on Facebook. Hull’s video was also posted on the city’s official Twitter account, as well as the mayor’s Instagram account, according to a story in the Rio Rancho Observer.
