ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — David Duffy, the motorcyclist involved in the accident on Wednesday, died today at about 12:30 p.m. from his injuries, police said late Friday night.
The motorcyclist involved in an accident on the off-ramp of Interstate 25 at San Antonio earlier this week received substantial head trauma, according to a police report.
David Duffy, 53, of Rio Rancho, is in critical condition at UNM hospital, the police report said. He was not wearing a helmet when he crashed and hit his head on the asphalt on Wednesday afternoon.
Duffy was driving north on Pan American Freeway before 4:30 p.m. and didn’t notice traffic was stopped at the San Antonio traffic light, according to the report. He attempted to brake, but the motorcycle slid and fell to its side. Duffy was thrown from the vehicle and hit his head on the road.
John Berg, 68, told police he was stopped at the light in his sedan when he heard a screech behind him and looked in his rear-view mirror. Berg said he saw Duffy lose control and be thrown from the motorcycle before landing face down in the roadway. Berg’s car was hit by the motorcycle.
