ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Police canceled the Amber Alert for 8-year-old Chelsea Boomgaarn early this afternoon after the girl was found safe, according to an email from New Mexico State Police.

Boomgaarn was reported missing from a Deming home by her grandmother. Police believe she was taken by her mom, 47-year-old Laurie Curtis, who does not have custody of the girl.

The pair had last been seen in a silver 2007 Kia minivan with a New Mexico license plate, number KXN 585. Authorities issued the Amber Alert around noon, but haven’t said when the abduction allegedly happened.

They announced it was canceled around 2 p.m. but didn’t release any other details, including where Boomgaarn was found or whether Curtis will be facing charges.
