UPDATED: Crash with Bicyclist Closes Broadway

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The bicyclist involved in this morning’s accident was taken to the hospital conscious and talking, police said.

Ashley McKeenzie, 26, was reported to have a possible concussion, a broken femur and scrapes and bruises, said Officer Robert Gibbs with APD.

McKeenzie was riding north on Broadway Blvd. at around 7:30 a.m. when a vehicle driving east on Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. collided with her, Gibbs said. The driver of the vehicle said she did not see McKeenzie because the sun was in her eyes.

Gibbs said it did not appear that anyone would be cited in the crash.

An accident involving a car and a bicycle has closed northbound Broadway this morning, according to the ABQJournal.com traffic map.

The crash was reported at around 7:45 a.m. Broadway Blvd. is closed at Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., the map showed.

On the west side, a rollover accident was reported at about the same time on Paseo del Norte at Rainbow Blvd.

No further information was immediately available.
