ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Horatio Alger Association has announced that four of the 950 students who will receive the prestigious 2017 National Horatio Alger Career and Technical Education Scholarship are from Albuquerque.
This annual scholarship provides financial assistance of up to $2,500 to outstanding students who, in the face of great adversity, have exhibited an admirable commitment to pursue their career and technical education at an accredited nonprofit post-secondary institution in the U.S., organizers said in a news release.
The recipients are: Shayna Delehanty, Brenda Guzman, Brandon Strait and Stephanie Moran.
The Horatio Alger Association administers one of the nation’s largest privately funded, need-based financial aid programs. Established in 1984, the program has awarded more than $125 million in undergraduate, graduate and specialized scholarships.
