ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A motorcyclist died after a crash with a vehicle on Tramway Wednesday night, according to police.
They said officers were called to the intersection of Tramway and Rover NE around 9: 30 p.m. for the crash and found the motorcyclist dead on the scene. They didn’t say if there were any injuries to anyone in the vehicle.
They didn’t identify the motorcyclist.
Officer Tanner Tixier, a spokesman for the Albuquerque Police Department, said Thursday that investigators found the motorcyclist had been traveling approximately 100 miles per hour before the crash.
“This is two times the posted speed on Tramway,” he wrote in an email.
Tixier said traveling at high speeds can make it difficult for a driver to judge the distance between their vehicle and another.
Tixier said police didn’t have any indication that the motorcyclist who was killed was part of the group riding around the city last weekend. In that incident, on Tramway near Paseo Del Norte NE, a Bernalillo County Sheriff’s deputy in the passenger seat of a marked cruiser pointed his gun at a rider who was doing wheelies.
