ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A retrial for a former jail guard accused of raping an inmate outside of a courthouse holding cell is set for early November, a judge determined Thursday.
This will be the fifth trial for Enock Arvizo, who at the time of the alleged crime was working as a transport officer for the Metropolitan Detention Center.
The Nov. 9 retrial will deal with the same charges as a trial last month, after jurors in that case could not unanimously agree on a verdict.
Arvizo has previously been convicted of attempting to kiss one inmate and raping another in a courthouse elevator. He resigned from the jail shortly after allegations were raised.
