Take a hay ride to an apple orchard and pick out a pumpkin perfect for carving this weekend at Wagner Farms in Corrales.
The farm is holding its fourth annual Apple & Pumpkin Festival on Saturday, Oct. 14 and Sunday, Oct. 15. The event will feature tours of Wagner Farms’ apple orchard, hay rides and more.
“We take them for a ride to our apple orchard and then drop them off at our pumpkin patch where we have so many pumpkins to choose from,” said Gina Wagner, manager of Wagner Farms. “And we have green chile roasting. We have red chile ristras. We’ll have live entertainment both days. We have homemade food provided by Apple Tree Cafe, which is our cafe that we have here on the property at Wagner Farms. (We have) fresh apple cider and face painting. There’s activities for the children. It’s just a nice thing for the whole family to come out to.”
Admission into the event is free and there will be apples and pumpkins available for purchase.
“A lot of people come out because they’ve never been to an apple orchard so they enjoy going on the hay wagons back to see where the apples grow and it makes it really nice,” Wagner said. “It’s 12 acres. We have quite a few varieties. We have Red Delicious, we have Granny Smith, Golden Delicious, Rome Beauty, Winesap, Gala and Honeycrisp… They are allowed to pick. The trees are low enough for them to pick. We allow them to pick and then you can purchase what they want.”
