SF Homebuilders host panel on attacking apartment shortage

The Santa Fe Area Homebuilders Association will host a panel discussion on how Albuquerque attacked its apartment shortage — as Santa Fe wrangles now with its own severe lack of rental housing — at a meeting on Thursday.

The event will be held from 8-10 a.m. at the association’s offices at 2520 Camino Entrada. Panelists will discuss how Albuquerque has used capital improvement project funds to leverage real estate development, primarily multi-family rentals.

Panelists include Claudia Isaacs, a UNM professor of planning and architecture; Bernalillo County Commissioner and former Albuquerque city councilor Debbie O’Malley; Rebecca Velarde of Albuquerque’s Family and Community Services Department, and Gabriel Rivera of the city’s Department of Planning and Redevelopment.

The event is free. People wishing to attend should RSVP by calling 982-1774 or via email to kim@sfahba.com.
