Sports Speak Up! On Eustachy’s criticism of UNM job

WITH UNM’S RABID basketball fan base, Colorado State’s Larry Eustachy would crawl on his hands and knees from Ft. Collins to Albuquerque if he were ever offered the UNM basketball head coaching position (it will never happen). As for Noodles, don’t shed too many tears for him as he is being paid about $40K per month by UNM for the next two years for whatever leisure activities he so desires. Paul Weir? $625K per year is a good starting point. Show us that you can beat teams other than the UMKC Kangaroos and I’m sure UNM will restructure your contract.

— JJ

$625K A YEAR base salary, worst job, doesn’t get paid enough. A lot of folks making around 30K a year would disagree.

UH-HUH! Sure Larry! I’m sure you are a proponent of “Can’t Coach Effort” as well. Why not add Craig to your staff, if he is that well thought of in Fort Collins? Alford did a fine job, and hopefully Coach Weir will as well. BTW… he does coach effort! That is exactly what most UNM fans ask for. Do the best you can with what you have!

MAC ENGEL’S article in the Sunday Journal is the best anti-Jerry Jone$$$ I’ve read in a long time. It’s the Truth! \

I JUST RETURNED from a three-week road trip to Cincinnati and I can testify that along the way I saw numerous soccer pitches filled with enthusiastic kids. Uptown Ed is wallowing in nostalgia about “a game you know how to play.” By the way, when was the last time basketball, baseball, or football competed internationally on a regular basis?
