The Cumbre Awards are given in two categories: tactics, for single public relations and communications tools; and campaigns, for comprehensive approaches that incorporate multiple communications tactics. Campaign entries are judged against a standard on a 100-point scale, while tactic entries are judged against an 80-point scale, resulting in awards of Bronze, Silver and Gold. The highest-scoring honoree for both tactics and campaigns is awarded Best of Show recognition. The 2017 awards were independently judged by the Central Iowa Chapter of PRSA.
