ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Trees dropped off at three locations around the city will be ground into chips for use as mulch
Christmas trees can be dropped off at three locations in Albuquerque for recycling starting on Sunday (Jan. 2), the city Solid Waste Management Department says.
The agency said in a news release this week that the city and PNM are offering the tree recycling program that will run through Jan. 9.
The trees can be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at Montessa Park Convenience Center, 3512 Los Picaros SE (873-6607), Eagle Rock Convenience Center, 6301 Eagle Rock NE (857-8318) or Ladera Golf Course, Coors and Ladera NW (888-8115), according to the news release.
The trees will be ground into chips, which can be used as mulch to provide a better growing environment for plants in city parks and landscapes, the news release said. Residents also can pick up mulch for use in their home landscapes.
