Lovable animals looking for homes will be up for adoption from animal rescue groups and shelters at the 6th annual 12 Strays of Christmas event next Saturday, Nov. 18, at Cabezon Community Center and Park in Rio Rancho.
The city’s Parks, Recreation, Community Services Department, Pet Food Gone Wild and various rescue groups are hosting the event that will also have vendors selling pet-inspired items, according to a news release from the city.
Attendees can also bring their own pets to have holiday photos taken with “Santa Claws” for a minimal fee.
“To help these shelters, we are also holding a pet needs drive,” the release reads. “Items sought for the animals include pet food, cat litter, gently used blankets, towels, pet beds, kennels and new or cleaned pet toys. Monetary donations are also welcome. All proceeds collected with be divided among the rescue groups and shelters present at the event.”
Admission is free to the all-ages event that will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the center and park, 2307 Cabezon Blvd SE, which can be accessed from Unser or Golf Course.
