Police identify man slain in NW Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Police identified 45-year-old Thomas Ramirez as the man found shot on the 3900 block of Fifth NW, near Fifth and Candelaria NW, early Tuesday morning. He later died of his injuries.

Police spokeswoman Hannah Glasgow said there are currently no suspects and police are seeking any information about the shooting.

Officers responded to the area around 1 a.m. and found Ramirez laying in the middle of the street. Rescue crews took him to the hospital, where he died of his injuries.

At the scene Tuesday morning, Officer Tanner Tixier said the neighborhood has been quiet recently, but had some “significant” gang activity in the past.

“We don’t know the motivation, whether this was gang-related, drug-related, domestic violence-related,” Tixier said.
