All-State teams sound familiar
With the success local teams enjoyed this season, it’s not surprising that the annual All-State teams, as determined by a vote of members of the New Mexico High School Coaches Association, is well populated with familiar names.
Class 4A: First team
From Robertson: Arjay Ortiz, quarterback and secondary; Brooks Pavlic, offensive line; Antonio Padilla, receiver; Juan Marcos Dominguez, linebacker; and Darian Duran, defensive end.
From St. Michael’s: Joey Fernandez, receiver, running back and linebacker; and Tayo Regenold, offensive and defensive lines.
From West Las Vegas: Cassius Trujillo, offensive line.
From Taos: Jude Suazo, secondary.
Class 4A: Second team
From Robertson: Darian Duran, defensive line; Santiago Gonzales, running back; and Brooks Pavlic, defensive line.
From St. Michael’s: Jeremiah Jacquez, defensive end; and Israel Chavez, secondary.
From West Las Vegas: Antonio Bustamante, running back and punter; and Steve Sandoval, linebacker.
From Taos: Amos Duran, offensive line; and Shane Martinez, offensive line.
The first team includes McCurdy kicker Raul Arroyo, who also made the second team as punter, secondary and returner.

FREE THROWS: If you think you’re a hot shot from the foul line, sign up for the City of Santa Fe’s foul-shooting contest set for Saturday at the Fort Marcy Complex.
