Man who abandoned dog at Dunkin’ Donuts cited for neglect

SANTA FE — A San Felipe Pueblo man was cited by Santa Fe Animal Control for abandoning a dog at a Santa Fe Dunkin’ Donuts last week.

Raymond O. Twinhorse, 70, was ticketed for animal neglect after he let a 2-year-old mix-breed dog with an attached note that read, “I’m Free I’m Having Babies” out of his van at the doughnut shop around 7:30 a.m. Dec. 26. He was caught on video buying coffee before driving off without the dog.

Santa Fe Police spokesman Greg Gurule said Twinhorse was not cited for abandonment because he reported himself and agreed to pay the fee for the Santa Fe Animal Shelter to take in the dog.

Animal Shelter spokesman Murad Kirdar said the shelter still isn’t sure if the dog, given the name “Jackie” by shelter staffers, is pregnant or has a urinary tract infection. Kirdar said a lot of people expressed interest in adopting Jackie.
