Marijuana Seizures Keep Border Patrol Agents Busy

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Lordsburg agents confiscate more than 1,140 pounds of pot; agents from three other El Paso sector stations seize a total of 640 pounds

Border Patrol agents assigned to the Lordsburg station have confiscated more than 1,140 pounds of marijuana valued at more than $910,000, the Las Cruces Sun-News reported.

The newspaper said that agents on Friday confiscated 327 pounds of pot in several burlap sacks valued at more than $250,000 south of Rodeo. The agents, who had spotted footprints of a group having crossed the border, also arrested one person and the rest fled back into Mexico.

The seizure was followed by an attempt to smuggle 154 pounds of marijuana on Friday, and three more significant loads were seized by agents in the same vicinity, according to the Sun-News.

Meanwhile, other agents in the Border Patrol’s El Paso sector from Deming, Alamogordo and Fort Hancock, Texas, seized a total of 640 pounds of marijuana valued at $510,000 and arrested 14 people and seized one vehicle, the newspaper reported.
