“We wanted to offer this service to the community,” Laurel Anderson, one of the instructors, said in an event news release.
Anderson has taught children in many countries, from Nepal to Bangladesh, according to organizers.
“Imagine a world where our interactions with each other are peaceful,” Anderson said. “We could eliminate so much stress and anxiety.”
She added that the words we use are key to peaceful interactions and that “this is something that can be learned.”
At the event, children will experience what it’s like to play non-competitive games and do art projects together, the news release reads. Adults, meanwhile, will role-play situations that occur in families and at work, and figure out how to respond in a way that leads to peaceful outcomes.
The event takes place from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Westside Congregation, 1650 Abrazo Road, Rio Rancho. Space is limited, so pre-registration is required. Call 505-896-8192 or email email@example.com.
